the FAQs
what is resin and how do I take care of my resin art?
Epoxy resin is a 2 part medium that starts as a liquid and cures into a hard polymer material. It’s a lot of science that my adhd brain has zero interest in learning, so feel free to click here should you be so inclined to learn more about the chemistry of resin.
While resin is beautiful, and the results can be stunning, it can be a rather temperamental medium, so it is important to properly care for your item to ensure its long-term vibrance and vitality. Resin is not dishwasher, microwave, oven, or freezer safe. Many of these must be avoided because resin does not enjoy hanging out in extreme temperatures. Too cold or too hot can cause it to react unfavorably and seize or become tacky or pliable depending on the piece.
The brands of Resin I use are UV resistant, VOC free, and FDA-approved as food-grade safe, which means you can serve or eat food from the surface as long as the resin has not been cut or punctured. While I use quality resins and pigments, UV from direct, and even strong indirect, sunlight can alter the item’s color over time. To ensure the vibrancy of your piece, please store it out of direct sunlight.
If you have any questions about resin, or how to get started working with resin, feel free to reach out via my social channels or via liquidluxedesigns@gmail.com and I’d be happy to help in any way I can!
what is my jewelry made out of?
All jewelry metal is sourced to be as hypoallergenic as possible. All silver jewelry is surgical-grade stainless steel and all gold jewelry is 14k gold-plated brass.
The jewelry’s base metals are all tarnish-resistant, but proper care will help keep it looking new. Avoid wearing Liquid Luxe Designs jewelry with lotions, oils, or perfumes, remove while exercising, cleaning, or before strenuous activity. After wearing, remove and wipe down with a soft cloth and store in a cool, dry location such as a Liquid Luxe Designs mini ring dish.
